Evaporation Credits: Many municipal water companies provide credit for water evaporated by a cooling tower. This process elimintes sewer charges for the water that is evaporated in a cooling tower. This will typically reduce sewer charges by 80%. These projects often have better than a 10 month payback.
Recycle to Irrigation: Operating a cooling tower with no chemicals or environmentally safe chemistry produces blowdown that is available for recycle or re-use. This can eliminate sewer charges and reduce irrigation water bills.
Zero Discharge: ZD stands for zero discharge. Some customers may not have access to a wastewater treatment plant or they may want to reduce water use by restricting the cooling tower blowdown. One option in this situation is to eliminate chemicals and use the cooling tower blowdown for irrigation. Another option is to pre-treat the cooling tower make-up water to allow operation at or near zero blowdown using high efficiency water softeners. The softeners do produce a waste brine, but the cooling tower has zero blowdown.
Geothermal Cooling: Geothermal cooling systems conserve water, are extremely quiet and are very reliable. Geothermal cooling utilizes cool underground aquifer water as a heat sink. This eliminates the need for a cooling tower and the associated evaporation of water. The result is that there is no need for a constant water supply and no need for wastewater discharge. Geothermal cooling is a highly reliable, low-maintenance zero discharge technology.
Recycle GO Green with Waterhouse
Cooling Towers with softened water can be operated without the use of scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors or biocides. The process involves controlling scale forming components from the water without removing naturally occurring inorganic corrosion inhibitors.
Naturally occuring silica in make-up water is an environmentally safe corrosion inhibitor. Naturally occuring carbonate, bicarbonate and calcium are present in most aquifers and can be balanced to provide environmentally safe corrosion protection.
Tracking
Robotic testing systems can be used to perform routine daily testing. Wireless cellular and satellite systems report data for monitoring or adjustments as required.
